Over the weekend I started making the items that the fox will interact with in my animation. I have made a painting of what I want the setup to look like and have made props from that, such as a box of fried chicken, a spilled milkshake and a bin.
I want the set to look familiar and like typical London street scene so I made things I have seen before and that are common. The box of chicken is also a comment on how adaptable foxes are because they naturally prey on chicken and are often found to be stealing it from farms in the countryside, so in the city it is amusing that they also often eat scraps of fast food fried chicken instead.
I made all the props to be scaled around the fox so that it is easier to see it as a real fox. I made a miniature bin bag full of rubbish by cutting the top corner of a normal bin bag and then melting the edges back together before turning it inside out and filling it with lots of little scrunched up pieces of paper to fill it our. I am particularly pleased with this as I think it looks quite real and very cute.
Using the 3D printer we have at home, I made a handful of little pieces of chicken to go in the box, some smaller ones and some larger. I painted them with acrylics to make them look more like real chicken.
