Plasticine fox

Today I made a plasticine fox to use in a short animation. I started with a wire armature, made from coated garden wire, and packed out the body shape with tinfoil before coating in plasticine and moulding the full form.

I have done lots of research into how Aardman animations make their characters for the show Creature Comforts, as that is the inspiration for this, and have been inspired by their armature structure and funny, characterful eyes.

I also took the finished model outside and took some photos of it in the streets outside my house, where I frequently see foxes, to demonstrate the set I will be making for the animation and the habitat of these urban foxes. To avoid getting tarmac and dirt in the plasticine, I added little tinfoil pieces to the feet for protection.
